After a morning at Zion, we zipped the 2 hours up to Bryce in the late afternoon. It was like stepping into another world. It was a unique combination of Mars, a downtown full of skyscrapers, and a drippy Gaudi cathedral.
We enjoyed the magnificent view from the rim of the canyon before venturing down one of the paths which was supposed to be a circular mile walk. About halfway down we past some people going opposite direction who said the trail was closed, so we turned around and hiked back up the steep trail again. The towering, red, sandy hudus made it seem like we were in a totally different world.
After the hike, we drove through the park slowly and caught sight of some pronghorn antelope grazing. We then stopped at a Subway outside the park to grab a few sandwiches prior to driving the 1.5 hours home. Somehow, Claire left her precious first baby doll laying somewhere outside the store while we were disciplining her. We didn't realize it until we had driven home and it was 9 o'clock. Laura wanted to make the 3 hour round trip journey to try and find it, but Tyler talked her out of it.
We ended up calling the next morning to the Subway, but no one had seen the doll. Laura was a little heart broken since it was the first Claire's first little baby doll she ever had, but we ordered a replacement online right then and there and Laura decided she could move on. Next stop...the Grand Canyon.
